Score Breakdown
Editorial
(this is a pre-test listing based on reasonable expectation of processor, memory, battery, charging and imaging performance) So unique that it is hard to compare to any other phone, Fairphone 6+ is a re-package of Fairphone (2025): same incredibly repairable build, processor, battery, screen, cameras and memory expansion slot. OS update promise went from 8 to (still respectable) 5, only RAM went from 8GB to 12GB driving up the price too.
Pros & Cons
PROs
very unique design allows user to repair and even upgrade the phone, ethnical production and supply setup, good SD 7s Gen 4 with UFS 3.1 performance, easily replaceable 4415mAh lithium battery with >60min 30W charging lets one carry spares and hand swap them as needed, >1300nits bright 460ppi LTPO OLED screen, IP55 with military standard drop protection, average imaging from a 50MP OIS main + 13MP ultrawide (both PDAF) setup, average 32MP selfie, average video recording, expandable SD storage (but requires phone reboot), 5 OS updates of clean Android, nice new colors
CONs
mediocre chip and memory may limit number of updates, old tech lithium battery with ~30hr endurance and no wireless charging, screen with no HDR, not water submersible, low on software features and AI integration, no desktop replacement or video out capability, expensive for the performance it delivers, limited market availability
