Huawei top phone comes with a new 5nm chip (compared to 7nm predecessor and 3nm competition) and a newly designed imaging setup ready to claim the top photography spot again. Huawei was able to finally upgrade its Android 12-based OS to (last year's) Android 16 but this is where meaningful updates end. Performance remains a problem, software workarounds remain workarounds, the Silicone-Carbon battery tech is still missing, LTPO screen doesn't dial down to save the battery as one would expect it to do. Pura remains a (photo) niche product with a big promise.

outstanding build (with some stand-out colors), 1150nits 460ppi 120Hz LTPO OLED screen, IP69 protection, outstanding photos from a new 50MP main + 200MP periscope telephoto + 40MP ultrawide setup, excellent selfie, upgrade from Android 12-based to Android 16-based OS with ability to use more of Google apps (still through GBox), desktop replacement functionality, fast USB-C 3.2 port with Display Port and OTG, satellite connectivity (China-only version)
CONs
smudge-prone design (for solid colors), big & heavy (230g), disappointing midrange performance from a new Kirin 9030S (5nm) chip with UFS 4.1 performance, only 24hr endurance from a big 6000mAh (5400mAh in EU) non-Si-C battery with 60min 100W (80W wireless) charging, minimal refresh rate variability and no Dolby Vision or HDR10+ on a LTPO tech screen, no expandable storage, no commitment on number of OS updates at all, limited AI integration compared to competition
