EDITORIAL: Pixel 10 Pro brings a new Tensor chip produced by TSMC's 3nm manufacturing process. The screen is slightly brighter and battery (still old, Lithium tech) is just 170nAh larger. Android 16 brings in the 1st gen of build-in desktop replacement functionality to Pixel Pro phones. All cameras are the same as on 9 Pro but have some new AI tricks and the tele lens can focus closer. Qi2 wireless charging adds a cool touch.
PROs
one-hand flagship grade hardware, 2200nits super-bright 495ppi sharp LTPO OLED screen with HDR10+, IP68 protection, reliable 50MP OIS main + 48MP OIS periscope telephoto + 48MP ultrawide (all PDAF) camera performance, excellent 42MP PDAF selfie, good (but not class-leading) video recording, 7 years of OS update promise, new desktop replacement functionality, fast USB-C 3.2 port, Satellite SOS Service
CONs
midrange chip Tensor G5 with UFS 4.0 (3.1 on the 128GB version) performance, only 24hr endurance with 88min slow 30W wired charging (15W wireless) of old-tech Li 4870mAh battery, sub-500Hz PWM screen dimming rate will cause headaches for some users, same camera hardware as on 9 Pro, no SDmemory expansion

EDITORIAL: Samsung is not innovating with S24 but the improvments on S23 are real: better chip, slightly bigger battery, LTPO screen (improves battery endurance), tangible imaging improvments in processing (hardware is the same) and a industry first: 7 years of OS updates. It is unfortunate that battery performance is so inferior to last year's Sony Xperia 5 V - why is Samsung limiting S24 to barely a Day of use?
PROs
narrower then S23, fast SD 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400 with UFS 4.0 performance (the 128GB version has slower UFS 3.1), >1400nits bright >400ppi 120Hz LTPO AMOLED screen with HDR10+, IP68 protection, excellent 50MP 24mm main + 10MP 67mm tele (both with OIS AF) + 12MP 13mm ultrawide setup, a great 12MP 26mm PDAF selfie, excellent video recording in good light and less so at night, a 7 year OS update policy - longest in the industry, full featured DeX computer replacement functionality, fast USB-C 3.2 with Display Port 1.2 and OTG
CONs
barely a day of endurance from a 4000mAh lithium battery with >70min slow 25W (15W wireless) charging, confusing market strategy with SD 8 Gen 3 for USA and China while the rest of the world gets Exynos 2400, different UFS speeds for different memory tiers forcing users to more expensive variants (256GB instead of 128GB), rapidly closing Samsung's eco system (following Apple's direction) that integrates Samsung's accessories better then those of makers
