EDITORIAL: Motorola Edge 60 is a phone of extremes. With a great build, lovely colors and grip, top protection against drops and elements, excellent screen, SDmemory slot and a capable desktop replacement - there is so much to love here. The Dimensity 7300 performance is smooth, 68W charging is sub-60min. But the Battery endurance is just 1-day, newly designed (50MP OIS main + 10MP OIS tele + 12MP ultrawide, all PDAF) main camera output is inconsistent (while capable of some great pics), there is no AF on a very good selfie and only 3 years of OS updates. Let's hope software updates can improve the very promising main camera output.

PROs
(relatively) compact build with flagship quality, good Dimensity 7300 performance, 68W sub-60min fast charging, >1400nits bright >440ppi sharp P-OLED HDR10+ screen, maximum (IP69 + Military standard) element and drop protection, good imaging from the selfie camera, SDmemory expansion, excellent and very stable OS package that includes a powerful (wired or wireless) desktop replacement feature
CONs
unreliable main camera, 50MP selfie with no AF, slow USB-C 2.0 port

EDITORIAL: Apple used to update it's basic (SE) iPhones every few years but the last year's 16e got it's upgrade just a year later. We will see if this is a beginning of a yearly update cycle - it would make sense if this very modestly equipped $600 phone sells well. 17e comes with a very fast A19 processor and it does great in benchmarks, beating all iPhone 16 models, including 16 Pro Max. It also features the latest iOS version and comes with double the memory for the same price as 16e but this is where the excellence runs out. The rest of the phone is very elementary - same small battery, less-then-a-day endurance, 60Hz Retina display, reliable single lens cameras front and back. This is your cheapest ticket into iPhone world but the plain 17 model is a much better option...

PROs
good build, compact and elegant, very fast A19 (with NVMe memory) performance, IP68 protection, reliable (if very basic) 48MP 26mm OIS PDAF back camera, reliable 12MP 23mm PDAF selfie, average video recording, up to 5 years of OS updates, universally available
CONs
dated design, zero innovation, barely 1 day endurance from a 4000mAh Lithium battery with 25W (15W wireless) charging needs 90min to full, 460ppi Retina OLED screen with HDR10+ only <900nits of brightness and just 60Hz refresh rate, no expandable memory, no desktop replacement functionality, USB-C 2.0 port, modest AI features compared to Android competition
