EDITORIAL: Motorola comes out with a hybrid: not quite a 8 Elite flagship in terms of processor speed or battery endurance but with a great camera, software, AI performance and build. The IP69 is supplemented with military-level drop protection, outstanding Bose-tuned sound system, excellent imaging and a very long OS support with a growing number of useful AI features.

PROs
flagship build with top drop protection, just 7mm thick, good SD 8 Gen 5 with UFS 4.1 performance, >30hr endurance from a 5200mAh Si-C battery with sub-45min 90W (50W wireless) charging, >1500nits bright 460ppi 165Hz LTPO AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision, excellent 50MP 23mm OIS main + 50MP 71mm OIS periscope telephoto + 50MP 12mm ultrawide (all with PDAF) back camera setup, excellent 50MP 21mm dual pixel PDAF selfie, good video recording, stock-like Android with excellent Motorola additions, up to 7 years of OS updates, lots of AI features along with a physical AI button, desktop replacement software, Bose-tuned speaker system, fast USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 with Display Port and OTG
CONs
limited market availability as with so many Motorola phones, unusual Pantene color choice, no expandable memory, rich AI features need some polishing

EDITORIAL: Following Xiaomi's 2025 move, both Vivo and Oppo released "Pro" and "Pro Max" phones in September 2026. Oppo's Find X10 Pro Max lands somewhere between last year's Pro and Ultra, not really matching either. It beats Pro's battery size and camera setup while the screen is a real downgrade when compared to X9 Ultra's QHD screen. Most importantly: this is the 1st phone with a triple 200MP camera setup on the back and given Oppo's improved imaging performance, it is the "best photo phone" title contender.

PROs
flagship build, fast Dimensity 9600 Pro (2nm) with UFS 4.1 performance, >42hr endurance from a massive 8000mAh (7150mAh in EU) Si-C battery with sub-90min 80W (50W wireless) charging, ~2300nits 450ppi 144Hz LTPO AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision, IP69 protection, industry-first triple 200MP lenses with PDAF: 24mm OIS main + 70mm OIS periscope telephoto + 13mm ultrawide, excellent 50MP 18mm PDAF selfie, very good video recording, up to 5 years of OS updates, Snap button for fast access to a feature of choice, aggressive pricing
CONs
big and 233g heavy, no memory expansion, no desktop replacement functionality despite Android 17 native support, limited market availability

Both phones here were scored by me, using the same ten categories, with no ads, sponsorships, or manufacturer relationships — this comparison is as objective and honest as it gets.
