* TOP Battery Endurance* TOP Gaming

EDITORIAL: ZTE sub-brand Nubia has been perfecting its gaming-phone Redmagic line, every 6 months. The 11S Pro and Pro+ are their most advanced models differing only in battery size (8000mAh vs 7500mAh), charging speed (80W vs 120W) and a liquid cooling system on the Plus. Both are excellent gaming phones that feature fast screens, very long battery life and top speed performance. Imaging has always been a weakness of Redmagic phones and is not improving. The main and ultrawide lenses heavily process images while the (hidden under screen) selfie images look like they came from 2005. But if imaging is the least important, you should consider these phones.

PROs
excellent and very unique build, record breaking SD 8 Elite Gen 5 with UFS 4.1 performance, >42hr endurance from a 7500mAh Si-C battery with sub-50min 120W (80W wireless) charging, excellent notch-less >1600nits bright 430ppi 144Hz 6.85" AMOLED screen, submersible IPX8 protection, excellent gaming experience with great software and hardware (cooking system, shoulder triggers, responsive screen, headphone jack for better sound), basic desktop replacement functionality with Android 17 update, thin screen bezels, unique body design with LED lights on multiple sides, fast USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with Display Port
CONs
boxy and 230g heavy, non-LTPO and non-HDR screen (don't take away from excellent experience), no dust protection, reliable 50MP 23mm OIS PDAF main + below average 50MP 13mm AF ultrawide + average 2MP macro setup, very average under-screen 16MP selfie, average (at best) video recording, no memory expansion, just 3 years OS updates

* TOP Software* TOP Battery Endurance

EDITORIAL: Poco phones remain top "flagship killers" and the X8 Pro Max proves that point. Compromises are: processor - (just) below flagship grade, there is no tele lens and no AF on a 8MP ultrawide and on selfie. In all other respects, this is a fantastic value proposition and definitely worth your consideration if you're okay with it's heft. Battery endurance is as good as it gets.

PROs
flagship build quality, fast Dimensity 9500s with UFS 4.1 performance, record breaking endurance >48hrs from a large 8500mAh Si battery with sub-50min 100W charging, ~450ppi LTPS AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision, IP69 (IP68 in Europe) protection, very good 50MP 26mm OIS PDAF main camera, average selfie and video recording, up to 4 years of OS updates, screen sharing and tons of connectivity options for both PC and Mac and a very loud stereo speaker setup
CONs
big and hard to use one-hand, only ~1100nits of screen brightness, ultrawide and selfie performance bring down imaging scores, average video recording quality, no SD memory, slow USB-C 2.0 port (but it does offer OTG)

Both phones here were scored by me, using the same ten categories, with no ads, sponsorships, or manufacturer relationships — this comparison is as objective and honest as it gets.
