EDITORIAL: Samsung is sticking to same choices they did last year: top processor, top screen and a tried and true camera setup. Battery remains the same – a disappointing 5000mAh Lithium unit that provides for (barely) a full day of heavy use. Like Apple, Samsung believes that it is better to fully deplete and fully charge the battery every single day (excellent sales numbers confirm that their customers feel the same). The S26U is still a great phone: top performance and screen (albeit with gimmicky "first phone with a privacy screen" tagline), great main and selfie cameras, industry leading OS update policy, extensive AI integration, DeX and a powerful stylus.

EDITORIAL: (this is a pre-test listing based on reasonable expectation of battery, screen and imaging performance) Following Xiaomi's 2025 move, both Vivo and Oppo released "Pro" and "Pro Max" phones in September 2026. Oppo's Find X10 Pro Max lands somewhere between last year's Pro and Ultra, not really matching either. It beats Pro's battery size and camera setup while the screen is a real downgrade from X9 Ultra's QHD screen. Most importantly: this is the 1st phone with a triple 200MP camera setup on the back and given Oppo's improved imaging performance, we should expect the best photo phone title contender.
