EDITORIAL: (this is a pre-test listing based on reasonable expectation of battery and imaging performance) After China only release, Vivo made an international release of its top foldable on Oct 1st. Featuring the biggest battery and (inner) screen on a foldable, the Fold 6 lands somewhere at the top of 2026 lineup - a serious consideration if available in your market.

PROs
excellent build, fast (top of last gen) Dimensity 9500 Super (3nm) with UFS 4.1 performance, 36hr endurance from a 6900mAh Si-C battery with sub-60min 80W 40W wireless charging, 2 >1300nits >400ppi 120Hz LTPO screens with Dolby Vision, (immersible) IP69 protection, great pics from a 200MP OIS main + 50MP OIS periscope telephoto + 50MP ultrawide (all PDAF) setup, 2 20MP 31mm selfies, good video recording, feature rich and stabile OriginOS with 5 years of OS updates, desktop replacement functionality bundled with Android 17, fast USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with Display Port
CONs
no AF on selfies but on foldable you can use the main camera for selfies, no expandable memory slot, limited market availability

EDITORIAL: (this is a pre-test listing based on reasonable expectation of battery, charging and imaging performance) Apple's first foldable phone is an impressive feat of hardware engineering and a very competitive entry into the segment. It should have great performance, good endurance (for a foldable) and solid imaging despite sacrifices on tele and selfie hardware. Arriving later then other announced products. Its name could indicate lack of commitment to annual upgrades.

PROs
excellent design & build, fast A20 Pro (2nm) chip with NVMe memory performance, >30hr endurance from a (2 piece) 5400mAh "high-energy lithium-ion battery" with sub-60min 60W (25W wireless) charging, 460ppi (430 inner) 120Hz LTPO OLED screens with Dolby Vision (both screens support pen input), full IP68 protection (down to 6m!), excellent 48MP 26mm OIS PDAF main + 48MP 13mm PDAF ultrawide setup, 2 average selfie cameras (but you will use the main setup on a foldable), great video recording, basic multi-window feature in a mature and feature rich iOS with 6 years of updates, fast USB-C 3.2 with Display Port functionality, excellent for the first foldable, global availability
CONs
difficult one-hand use, big and 250g heavy for most pockets, ~1000nits (dim) screen, no tele lens, no expandable memory, no desktop replacement functionality (despite having Display Port), expensive

Both phones here were scored by me, using the same ten categories, with no ads, sponsorships, or manufacturer relationships — this comparison is as objective and honest as it gets.
