Score Breakdown
Editorial
A small miracle of engineering (pun intended), the Mate X7 goes as thin as it can be (if you want to keep the USB-C port): 4.5mm. Huawei fitted a 5600mAh battery that will deliver a full-day endurance (on outer screen). Imaging is excellent as is IP59 (immersible to 2m!) protection but that is where "amazing" ends. OS and lack of Google services remain a problem while processing power shows potential but it's still far behind competing foldable phones.
Pros & Cons
PROs
excellent build with a hard-to-believe thinness especially when open, <1200nits bright >400ppi 120Hz LTPO OLED screens with HDR Vivid (HDR10+ equivalent) standard, impressive IP59 protection, excellent imaging from a 50MP 24mm variable f1.5-4.0 OIS main + 50MP 84mm OIS periscope telephoto + 40MP 13mm ultrawide (all with PDAF) setup, top selfies from the back cameras cluster, excellent video recording, full featured desktop replacement functionality, fast USB-C 3.2 with Display Port 1.2 and OTG
CONs
low scores on Kirin 9030 Pro with UFS 4.x performance, just a day of endurance from a 5600mAh battery with sub-45min 66W (50W wireless) charging, only 3 years of OS updates, no Google services out of the box (tho you can add most), limited AI integration compared to market leaders, limited availability
